The Stride is proud to present Matthew Eddy who competes nationally in professional athletics.
Eddy is a professional sprinter and is a prominent figure in both the Victorian Athletic League (VAL) and the South Australian Athletic League (SAAL).
Like many of our athletes Eddy achievements are extensive. He has featured in numerous classic sprint event finals including:
- Albury 120m
- Stonnington 100m
- Maryborough 120m
- Bay Sheffield 120m
Of these performances and venues Eddy would be quick to say his favourites are Victoria’s Maryborough gift and the South Australian Bay Sheffield. Both of these events are very special for the Victorian sprinter as he has won the feature at Maryborough on two separate occasions (2012 and 2015), and was runner up in 2014 Bay Sheffield 120 by .03seconds.
In the summer of 2015 Eddy sustained a season ending injury. After an extended lay off Eddy knew he still had the passion and spark to pursue further success in the sport. Coached by high profile trainer Kerry McConnon, Eddy consulted with The Stride to ensure nothing was missed during his rehabilitation.
Having worked with Eddy and McConnon throughout the 2014/15 season The Stride team already knew what type of athlete they were working with. When it comes to preparation for individual sessions, recovery and planning its remarkable to see how diligent one can be. Eddy makes the process so easy and we thoroughly look forward to working with him and seeing a strong return.
